Old Navy put jeans, fleece and pajamas at half off
Tall jeans, activewear and pajamas are mostly 50% off, and sweaters, blouses and coats are 20% to 30% off. The Extra High-Waisted Wide-Leg Jeans are $25 with every size from 2 to 18, the Bounce Fleece Half-Zip is $25, and the Full-Length Trench Coat is $42. See the Old Navy report.
Gap pajamas at $24
Gap’s flannel and modal pajamas are half off at $24 for pants and tops. The best tall jeans are $35, including the High Rise ’70s Flare with the 24 to 35 run, and the CashSoft Tie-Neck Sweater is $31. See our Gap report.
Athleta put Salutation and Elation at 40% off
The Salutation and Elation leggings are $53, and the Salutation Stash Slim Fit Flare and Elation Flare are 40% off as well.

What this means for the next few weeks
Old Navy’s sitewide sale is the one to act on first. Most of its sale prices end in 49 or 99 cents, the pattern of a timed promotion, and Old Navy’s large promotions this fall have usually lasted about a week.
At Gap, the $35 jeans and $24 pajamas are worth buying now. Full-price Gap pieces are worth waiting on, since Gap has put its CashSoft sweaters at $34 twice this fall.
Athleta’s pattern is now clear enough to plan around. Buy the Salutation and Elation leggings this week, and wait on the Endless and Venice pants.
J.Crew is the store where waiting carries the most risk this month. Its new holiday pieces and coats are full price and some arrived with broken size runs. If one of them is on your list, buy it while your size is still there.
