Gap put 34 new tall styles on the site in the last two weeks, and it is very clearly fall. Sweaters, brushed twill trousers, cable knit, and a color card that has gone entirely to terra brown, purple bordeaux, noir red and bamboo green. ☕
Every one of them is full price, which is the tradeoff. Gap’s tall sale rack is still running a typical 40% off, so the new arrivals are competing against some genuinely cheap alternatives two clicks away. Our Gap tall fit guide covers how these cuts run.
The CashSoft wall
CashSoft is Gap’s cashmere-feel synthetic blend and it is the reason a lot of tall shoppers put up with Gap’s inconsistent sizing. Four new tall CashSoft pieces landed at once.
CashSoft Crewneck Sweater · $70, tall S to XXL, eight colors
Eight colors is a serious commitment for a tall style, and the full S to XXL run is in stock in every one of them. Terra brown heather, cool brown heather, navy, heather grey, ivory beige frost, modern red, purple bordeaux and bamboo green.
Now the part worth flagging. This sweater was on the site in July under last season’s style number, listing at $60. The new version lists at $70. Same name, same ivory beige frost colorway, $10 more. The old one was clearing at $25 before it sold out, so if you bought it in July you did well.
CashSoft Oversized Chunky Cardigan · $80, tall S to XXL, four colors
Black, cobblestone beige, heather grey, navy. Oversized plus tall is a combination that usually works, since the extra body length keeps an oversized knit from reading as a shrug.
CashSoft Mockneck Elbow-Sleeve Sweater · $60, tall S to XXL, four colors
The cheapest way into the new CashSoft batch. Elbow sleeves on a tall pattern are the one sleeve length that is hard to get wrong.
CashSoft Oversized V-Neck Sweater · $70, tall S to XXL, forest green, brown stripe, noir red
The trouser story
Gap put real effort into fall bottoms this drop, and this is the group we would look at first.
Brushed Twill Easy Wide-Leg Pants · $90, tall S to XXL, five colors
Grey stripe, dark heather grey, black, brown heather and birch brown heather. Five colors in a full size run is the widest launch in the drop.
365 High Rise Brushed Twill Pleated Trousers · $90, tall 00 to 20, four colors
The 365 line is Gap’s workwear pitch, and this is the version to care about: numeric sizing 00 through 20 rather than S to XXL, which on trousers is the difference between a fit and a guess. Dark heather grey, terra brown, grey pinstripe, and a tonal brown plaid. A low rise version launched alongside it at the same price.
Satin Easy Wide-Leg Pants · $90, tall S to XXL, navy, birch beer brown, peat brown
Satin wide-leg is the one holiday-adjacent piece in the drop, arriving early.
New denim, mostly low rise
Gap is pushing low rise hard this season, so read the rise before you click.
Low Rise Stride Wide-Leg Jeans · $90, tall waist 27 to 33, five washes
Black, light, fresh white, dark and medium wash, with waist sizes 27 through 33 in stock across the board. The most complete new denim launch of the week.
Mid Rise Relaxed Flare Jeans · $90, tall waist 27 to 33, four washes
The one mid rise in the group, and flare cuts tend to be the safest bet for tall since the leg opening gives the length somewhere to go.
Four more Low Rise UltraSoft jeans arrived in single colors each: Easy Baggy Flare, Stride Easy Wide-Leg, Flare and Baggy Flare, all $90. One wash each is a test launch, so if you like one, do not assume it will be there in October.
One caveat on all of the above: we do not yet track inseam length in our catalog, so we cannot tell you whether Gap’s tall wide-legs are hitting 34 inches or 36. It is the number that decides whether a “tall” pant is actually a tall pant, and we are working on capturing it. Until then, check the product page spec before you buy.

The TLDR summary
The trouser group is the real news. Brushed twill in five colors, and a pleated 365 trouser in numeric sizing 00 to 20, are the kind of tall bottoms that are hard to find at $90.
The CashSoft sweaters are good and the eight-color crewneck launch is generous, but note it now costs $10 more than the version Gap was selling in July. If you want CashSoft and you are not attached to this season’s colors, watch for the new batch to hit the sale rack, because the last one landed at $25 before it sold out.
And everything here is full price during a week when Gap’s tall sale rack is typically running 40% off. Buy the new stuff because you want the new stuff, not because you think it is a deal.
