Old Navy added 11 new tall styles since our last scan, and three of them are Halloween. It is August 5. 🎃
Meanwhile a batch of tall styles went back to full price, and almost all of them were activewear. Those two facts are the same fact: the summer athleisure promo ended and the seasonal stuff moved in. Our Old Navy tall fit guide has the sizing details if you are new to their tall line.
The one new style that is already on sale
The Arc Mid-Rise Barrel Jeans · $40 (was $50), tall 2 to 18, three washes

Barrel leg is the shape of the season everywhere, and Old Navy launched theirs already marked down, in Bella, light wash and rinse, with a full 2 to 18 tall run in stock. Mid rise rather than the extra-high everything else in the store. At $40 this is the most interesting new arrival on the list.
An Extra High-Waisted Wide-Leg Jean also showed up in a jacquard print at $40, down from $50, tall 2 to 18.
The activewear group
Five of the 11 new styles are Tall Activewear, all at full price, arriving the same week Old Navy took the discounts off its existing activewear.
Mid-Rise Woven Utility Pants · $50, tall S to XXL, five colors

Black Jack, Shooting Star, Hearthwood, In the Navy and Mocha, full size run in each. Five colorways at launch is Old Navy expecting this one to sell.
High-Waisted PowerSoft Flare Leggings · $45, tall S to XXL, black and dusk navy
PowerSoft is Old Navy’s best legging fabric and flare leggings are the cut most likely to actually reach the floor on a tall frame. Two colors only for now.
CloudMotion Long-Sleeve Tunic · $25, tall S to XXL, four colors
Tunic length on a tall pattern is the piece that solves the leggings-coverage problem. Orchid, Cloud Cover, Black Jack and Magnolia. The cheapest thing in the drop.
StudioSmooth Twist-Front Jumpsuit · $65, tall S to XXL, Black Jack and Hearthwood
Jumpsuits are the single hardest garment to buy tall, because the torso has to be right before anything else matters. Old Navy cutting one on a tall pattern is worth a look, though $65 is the top of their price range.
Water-Resistant Oversized Bubble-Hem Zip Bomber Jacket · $65, tall S to XXL, Black Jack and Micro Green

An oversized bomber with a bubble hem, cut tall. Sleeve length is where bombers usually fail on tall arms, so a tall-pattern version is genuinely useful. This is the fall piece in the group.
Halloween, in the first week of August
Old Navy x Disney Pajama Shorts Set · $50, tall XS to XXL, in a colorway named Mummy
Old Navy x Disney Minnie Mouse Oversized Sweatshirt · $50, tall XS to XXL, Creme De La Creme

Old Navy x Disney Minnie Mouse Boxy Cropped T-Shirt · $25, tall M to XXL, Pumpkin
A boxy cropped tee sized tall is a slightly odd object. Boxy plus cropped on a long torso tends to land higher than the picture suggests, so size up or plan on it being a layering piece. The sizing already starts at M rather than XS, which tells you something about how the first sizes went.
The good news on all three: full tall size runs in stock right now. Seasonal Disney tall pieces are the fastest sellouts in Old Navy’s catalog, and they will not be restocked in October. If you want the Mummy pajama set for Halloween, buying it in August is the strategy, not the joke.
What went back up
It is worth checking your cart. Old Navy’s activewear discounts are gone:
- High-Waisted StudioSmooth Full-Length Leggings: $16 back to $40
- High-Waisted StudioSmooth 7/8 Pocket Leggings: $18 back to $45
- Mid-Rise Dynamic Fleece Textured Wide-Leg Sweatpants: $25 back to $45
- High-Waisted Bounce Fleece Wide-Leg Sweatpants: $22 back to $45
- CloudMotion T-Shirt: $10 back to $25
Old Navy’s tall sale share dropped from 85% to 65% in two weeks. It is still the deepest tall clearance of the four stores we track, and the under-$10 dress bin is still open, but the activewear window closed.
The TLDR summary
Buy the Arc barrel jeans if barrel leg is your shape, since they launched on sale with a full tall run at $40. Buy the Halloween pieces now or forget about them. And if you were waiting on StudioSmooth leggings, you missed this cycle; they run promos on activewear often enough that another one is coming.
