Ten days ago we reported that Athleta’s tall sale had grown to 55% of the store and called the Jetset Bomber at $118 the pick of the week. That promotion has now ended. The Jetset Bomber is $169 again.
We are leading with that because it is the most useful thing in this week’s Athleta data: a batch of tall styles went back to full price, and they are almost exactly the styles that were 30% off ten days ago. Athleta’s tall sale share fell from 55% to almost 40%.
The good news is what replaced them. Athleta added a batch of new tall styles across many colorways, its largest tall drop of the season, and the fall collection is finally here. Our Athleta tall fit guide has the sizing details.
What went back to full price

That pattern, a flat 30% coming off across dozens of styles at once and then vanishing on a date, is what a timed promotion looks like in the data. Last week’s climb from 40% to 55% was never a clearance getting deeper. It was a coupon, and it expired.
One exception worth knowing: the Pinnacle High Rise Trouser in Dove went the other way, down to $65 from $129, 50% off, with tall 2 to 16 in stock. Same trouser, and it is now cheaper than it was during the promo while three other colors went back to $129.
The fall collection arrived
Nearly all of the new colorways landed at full price, which is why the sale share dropped while the clearance itself stayed put. Athleta’s tall selection grew sharply, the biggest single-week expansion we have seen from this store.
Daymaker Jacket · $159, tall S to XL, Flax, Black or Bone
Brand new, zero reviews, and it launched with the full tall size run in all three colors. That is the launch pattern you want to see.
Skyline Zip Pant · $149, tall 0 to 16, Black, Pearl or Nocturnal
The most complete new arrival of the batch: a full 0 to 16 numeric run in every color. The Skyline line is Athleta’s best-reviewed tall bottom, so a new Skyline shape arriving with the whole size run intact is the standout here.
Coaster Luxe Straight Leg Pant · $89, tall XS to XL, eight colors
Fog Grey Heather, Halo, Vera, Truffle, Umber, Ash, Sandstone Heather and Black, all with full size runs. Eight colorways is a serious commitment for a tall launch. The Coaster Luxe V-Neck Sweatshirt at $79 and the Coaster Luxe Open Cardigan at $89 arrived with it in six and seven colors.
Forever Fleece is the other new collection: the Classic Wide Leg at $99, the Classic Jogger at $89, the Classic Crew Sweatshirt at $89, and the Classic Full Zip at $109, all in tall with complete runs.

Jackets are still where the discounts live
The promotional 30% is gone, but Athleta’s genuine clearance never depended on it. Tall jackets: 36 in stock, 20 on sale, median discount 55%, by far the deepest category at any store this week.

The Halo Puffer Vest is the new entry: it was $175 at full price on August 12 and it is $60 now, which is the single biggest drop in this week’s Athleta data. Full tall M to XL run in Fleur.
And the Skyline High Rise Barrel Leg Pant in Slate is still $60 (was $139), 55% off, with the complete tall 0 to 16 run. Third week running at that price. Every other Skyline Barrel color is $97 or more, and the two new Savanna and Jungle colorways are $139.
The TLDR summary
If you were waiting on an Athleta 30% off promo, you missed this one, and the pattern suggests another will come. Buying at full price this week only makes sense for the new fall pieces you actually want in your size, since those tend to sell through their tall runs before they ever get discounted.
If you want a deal right now, go straight to outerwear. The Run Wild Vest at $35 and the Interval Jacket at $45 are legitimately better value than anything the expired promo offered, and unlike the promo items, these have thin size availability that will not wait. 🧥
