Gap’s tall sale share moved from 65% to 80% since August 12, with a large batch of tall styles newly discounted. The typical discount held steady at 40% off, so the sale got wider rather than deeper across the board.
The exception is one category. Gap’s tall jeans are now the best-value denim in this entire dataset, and unusually for tall, the size runs are intact. 👖
Our Gap tall fit guide covers how Gap’s tall inseams and rises compare before you commit.
Jeans took the real cut
Tall jeans at Gap: most of the category is on sale, at a typical discount of 50%. That is deeper than the store average and the deepest of any Gap tall category we track. Several styles landed at 70% off with the full tall waist 27 to 33 run available, which is the combination that almost never happens in tall sizing.
Mid Rise Vintage Slim Jeans · $23 (was $80), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, Medium wash, 605 reviews at 4.4
High Rise Kick Flare Jeans · $23 (was $80), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, Dark wash or Washed black, 431 reviews at 4.4
Both washes carry the complete size run. At $23 for a well-reviewed tall jean that is actually available, this is the cheapest credible denim we have seen at Gap all summer.
Low Rise Long & Lean Jeans · $26 to $29 (was $90 to $100), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, eight washes, 731 reviews at 4.6

This is the pick of the week. Eight washes at 70% off, nearly all with the complete 27 to 33 run: Light indigo at $26, then Medium destroy wash, Dark wash, Medium wash blue, Medium indigo, Blue railroad stripe and more at $29. The Medium destroy wash was $100 at full price ten days ago and is $29 today.
High Rise Stride Wide-Leg Ankle Jeans · $26 (was $90), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, Medium indigo, 1,216 reviews at 4.5
Gap’s most-reviewed tall wide-leg went from full price straight to 70% off in ten days, no intermediate step. Black and Fresh white are also discounted, but only to $44.
365 Low Rise Denim Pleated Trousers · $26 (was $90), 70% off, Dark indigo, tall 00 to 20
Worth calling out for the size range alone: 00 through 20, which is broader than anything else in this week’s Gap denim.
Fall and holiday arrived in the same delivery
Gap added a batch of new tall styles across many colorways, and the mix is a little startling for August. Sweaters and flannel pajamas landed in the same week as the summer denim clearance.
Adult Softest Flannel PJ Pants · $39 (was $50), tall S to XXL, eight new plaids and stripes
Red gingham, Blackwatch plaid, Red Plaid, Red tartan, Navy plaid, Blue stripes, Brannan stripe and Pink stripe, all with the full S to XXL run. Holiday flannel in August is early even by retail standards. The matching PJ Shirt arrived alongside at $39, and the returning Brannan stripe print pant is $29.
CashSoft Oversized Half-Zip Pullover · $63 (was $90), tall S to XXL, four colors
Camel hair tan, Black ellis, Terra brown heather, Charcoal grey. CashSoft is Gap’s most reliable sweater fabric and it rarely launches discounted, so 30% off on arrival is a real opening.
100% Cotton Oversized Turtleneck Sweater · $71 (was $90), tall S to XXL, four colors
Mid Rise Barrel Utility Jeans · $44 (was $90), tall 27 to 33, Light wash
A brand new barrel jean that launched at half price with the full waist run intact.
Plaid Maxi Shirtdress · $118, tall S to XXL, Black plaid
Full price and full size run. One of the few new pieces Gap is not discounting, which is usually a signal the store expects it to sell on its own.
What went back up
Things moved in both directions this week. A batch of tall styles returned to full price, and others had their discount trimmed. That is the counterweight to everything that went on sale, and it is why we check every week.
The long-running deal is still here, though: the CashSoft Rib Midi Sweater Dress is $25 (was $90), 70% off, in tall S to XL. That is a third straight week at the same price with the size run holding.
The TLDR summary
The denim is the thing to buy here. Gap’s tall jeans at 70% off with complete 27 to 33 waist runs is the strongest single opportunity across all four stores this week, and the Long & Lean at $26 to $29 is where we would start.
The new fall sweaters are worth a look while they are 20% to 30% off on arrival, because Gap’s CashSoft pieces tend to hold their price into the season. The flannel pajamas will still be there in November, and probably cheaper.
