Gap's Tall Fall Lineup Arrives, and Half of It Is Already on Sale

Gap added 62 new tall styles this week, mostly cozy sweaters, corduroy, and pajama sets, and 31 of them launched already discounted. Tall jeans held at a 50% median discount for a second straight week.

Gap’s tall sale share held at 80% this week and the typical discount stayed at 40%. On its own that reads as a quiet week. Underneath it, Gap’s tall selection grew, and almost all of that growth is a fall collection landing at once. Our Gap tall fit guide covers sizing if you are new to the line.

62 new styles, mostly cozy fall pieces

We counted 62 new tall styles in stock this morning that were not there ten days ago. Twenty are T-shirts, nine are sweaters, seven are shirts and tops, and the rest split across jeans, pants, sweatshirts, and one dress. Two thirds of them, 41 of 62, launched with a complete S to XXL run, which is a stronger size commitment than Gap usually manages on a tall launch.

CashSoft Oversized Mockneck Sweater · Black ellis, $71 (was $90), tall S to XXL

CashSoft Oversized Mockneck Sweater

Also available in Charcoal grey at the same price and size run. Alongside it, a 100% Cotton Cable-Knit Oversized Sweater in Cobblestone beige arrived at $79 (was $100), and a run of corduroy pieces, Big Shirts and Easy Wide-Leg Pants, launched in Terra brown, Kola nut brown, and Tapestry navy.

Half the new arrivals launched already discounted

31 of the 62 new styles are on sale from day one. That is the same pattern we flagged as unusual at Old Navy two weeks running, and now Gap is doing it too.

The clearest example is the pajama and loungewear range. A SoftMade Modal PJ Top landed at $23 to $29 (was $40 to $50) in three colorways, all with full size runs. Mid Rise VintageSoft Terry Loose Sweatpants came in across four colors at $35 to $45 (was $60 to $65), also full S to XXL. Not everything arrived marked down: several of the same corduroy and wide-leg pieces mentioned above launched at full price with partial size runs, so the discount is not universal across the collection, just common enough to notice.

The jeans discount hasn’t moved

Two weeks ago we called Gap’s tall jeans the deepest discount category at any store, with a 50% median. It still is. 170 tall jeans styles, 70% on sale, median discount 50%, the exact same figure as our last scan.

Mid Rise Vintage Slim Jeans · Medium wash, $23 (was $80), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, 605 reviews at 4.4

High Rise Kick Flare Jeans · Washed black or Dark wash, $23 (was $80), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, 432 reviews at 4.4

Both hold the complete tall waist run, both carry hundreds of reviews at 4.4 stars, and both are priced identically to where they stood on our last scan. A discount that holds steady for two weeks in a row is worth more than one that flickers, because it means the retailer intends to keep it there rather than testing a flash promotion.

The TLDR summary

Gap’s tall fall arrivals are worth a look specifically because a third of them already carry a discount, which is not the norm for new stock at any of the four stores we track. The $23 jeans remain the single best standing deal at Gap and have now proven durable across two full scans. 🧶
