Gap’s headline held steady again. The tall sale share sat around 80% with the typical discount at 40% off for a third straight check, which on its own reads as another quiet week.
The denim underneath changed shape, and the tall selection kept growing while the other three stores stayed flat or shrank. 👖
Our Gap tall fit guide covers how Gap’s tall inseams and rises compare before you commit.
Wider and shallower at the same time
Tall jeans went from about 70% of the category on sale to almost 95%. The typical cut on those jeans settled around 40% off, down from the 50% we reported for two weeks running.
More jeans are marked down and the middle of the range is shallower, because the styles that joined the sale came in around 40% to 50% rather than at the deep end. The deepest tier held, and it is still the only place we have found where a 70% discount and a complete tall waist run land on the same page.
Still at 70% off with the full tall 27 to 33 run
Mid Rise Vintage Slim Jeans · $23 (was $80), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, Medium wash, 605 reviews at 4.4
Third straight check at $23 with the complete waist run. We said last week that a discount holding steady for two weeks is worth more than one that flickers, and three weeks is better still.
High Rise Kick Flare Jeans · $23 (was $80), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, Dark wash or Washed black, 432 reviews at 4.4
Also unchanged for a third check, both washes, complete run.
Low Rise Long & Lean Jeans · $29 (was $100), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, Medium destroy wash, 732 reviews at 4.6
Light indigo runs $26 to $29 across several listings, and Dark wash, Medium wash blue and Medium indigo are all $29 with the full run. Watch the wash, because a few colorways on the same page sit at $53 to $79.
High Rise ’90s Slim Straight Jeans · $26 (was $90), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, Light indigo wash or Medium indigo, 2,339 reviews at 4.3
Mid Rise UltraSoft Baggy Jeans · $29 (was $100), 70% off, tall 27 to 33, Light indigo, 1,199 reviews at 4.5
Two more hold 70% with full runs and are cut short on purpose: the Low Rise ’90s Loose Easy Crop Jeans in Tinted blue and the High Rise ’90s Slim Straight Crop Jeans in dark indigo, both $26. Good jeans at a good price, and cropped, so treat them as ankle pieces rather than your full-length pair.
Newly discounted this week
High Rise Boot Jeans · $44 (was $90), 50% off, tall 27 to 33, Light wash or Fresh white
Full price last week, half off now, with the complete waist run in both washes. Medium wash is $53 at 40% off, also with the full run. The boot cut is the one Gap shape that reliably clears the shoe on a tall frame.
Classic Icon Denim Jacket · $44 (was $90), 50% off, Light wash, Medium wash or Washed black, 466 reviews at 4.4
Down from full price in all three washes. Sizing is thin here, at tall M, L and XL only.
Organic Cotton VintageSoft T-Shirt · $12 (was $25), 50% off, tall S to XXL, Terra brown, Fresh white, Heather grey and more
Cobblestone beige and Havana yellow go deeper at $9, 65% off, with the full S to XXL run. A tall-length cotton tee at $9 is the cheapest thing worth owning in this week’s Gap selection.
Three categories got deeper
| Category | Share on sale | Typical discount |
|---|---|---|
| GapFit | all of it | 50% off |
| Sweatshirts & Sweatpants | all of it | 50% off |
| Pants | 70% | 50% off |
GapFit moved the furthest of any category in the store, and all of it is marked down. GapFit Smooth Boatneck T-Shirt in Black is $17 from $60, 70% off, tall S to XXL.
The deepest full-run cut at Gap this week is the Bubble Mini Dress at $25 from $90, 70% off, in Black satin or Sled red with every size available. The Loose Overalls in Fresh white are $35 from $120, 70% off, tall S to XXL, and tall overalls cut genuinely long are a hard find.
A handful of new fall styles
Last week Gap landed a large fall drop all at once. This week it added a few new tall styles, which is the normal rate.
CashSoft Zip Hoodie · $71 (was $90), 20% off, tall S to XXL, five colors

Black ellis, Charcoal grey, Cool brown heather, Cobblestone beige and Terra brown heather, and all five carry the complete S to XXL run. Discounted on day one, which is the pattern we flagged when Gap’s fall lineup arrived last week and which is still running.
Modern Turtleneck · $40, tall S to XXL, five colors
The cheapest arrival and the most useful layering piece: Fresh white, Black, Terra brown, Bamboo green and Light heather grey.
CashSoft Oversized Polo Mini Sweater Dress · $90, tall S to XXL, Cool brown, Cobblestone beige or Black
Also new: the Vegan Leather Pencil Skirt at $80 in tall 4 to 16, and the Denim Asymmetrical Midi Skirt at $90 in Terra brown.
One from last week has already gone: the CashSoft Oversized Mockneck Sweater we led with on August 27 at $71 has sold out of tall in six days. It launched with the full S to XXL run in two colors. That is the fastest a Gap tall arrival has cleared since we started checking, and a sign that the CashSoft line moves.
What went back to full price
A batch of styles reverted, mostly maxi dresses and one denim shape:
| Style | Aug 27 | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Low Rise ’90s Loose Jeans, Medium wash | $53 | $100 |
| Seamed Denim Maxi Dress, Medium wash | $79 | $100 |
| Poplin Smocked-Waist Maxi Shirtdress, Fresh white | $79 | $100 |
| Puff-Sleeve Corset Maxi Dress, Terra brown | $79 | $100 |
| Denim V-Neck Maxi Dress, Dark wash | $59 | $100 |
| Lace-Hem Mini Shift Dress (two colors) | $71 | $90 |
The TLDR summary
Gap is the steadiest of the four stores right now, and the $23 jeans are the most durable deal we have found, unchanged across three consecutive checks with the complete tall 27 to 33 run.
The wider, shallower denim sale is worth reading correctly. It means Gap pulled more of the category into the sale at a moderate rate, so a wash sitting at 40% off is a recent addition rather than a fading markdown. Based on the last three weeks, the 70% tier is the one that stays put. 🧶
