Old Navy added 45 new tall styles this week. Forty-five. Gap managed twelve and Athleta managed six, so whatever else you want to say about Old Navy, nobody is out-shipping them in tall.
It is July 22 and they have put fleece sweatpants and a shaker sweater on the site. Fall is here whether the weather agrees or not. Check the Old Navy tall fit guide if you haven’t bought their tall sizing before, because it runs differently than the rest of the mall.
The two big color drops
When Old Navy believes in something, they print it in a dozen colors. Two things got that treatment this week.
Seaside Cotton Shaker Tunic Sweater · $39.99, tall XS–XXL, twelve colors
Tunic length in a tall pattern is the whole reason to care about this one. A regular tunic on me is a slightly long sweater, which defeats the point. Twelve colors and a full XS to XXL run right now, and the marls (oatmeal, brown, blue) are the ones that will look like more than forty dollars.
Fitted Waffle-Knit Cropped T-Shirt · $14.99, tall XS–XXL, thirteen colors
Thirteen colors at fifteen dollars. Now, “cropped” and “tall” in the same product name sounds like a contradiction, and I personally would skip this. But cropped is in style, so here you go!
Fall clothes, in July
Bounce Fleece Bubble-Hem Sweatshirt · $44.99, tall S–XXL, five colors
Bubble hems are in this season! A bubble hem on a sweatshirt is a lot of look. I’d have said no immediately a year ago and now I’m not sure. The animal print is the one that will either sell out first or sit until December.

Extra high waist plus wide leg plus a tall rise. Dynamic Fleece is the line Old Navy actually gets right, and wide-leg sweatpants in tall are hard to find at any price.

Bell sleeves are the one sleeve shape that regular sizing occasionally gets right on a tall arm, because the width hides the length. This one has a real tall sleeve, so no compromise needed.

Three new dresses arrived discounted, which is a slightly odd move for a first week.

Worth noting
New styles tend to lack reviews. Old Navy tall runs long and generous in the torso as a rule, but a brand-new pattern is a brand-new pattern.
